CELEBRATION OF CLYDE’S LIFE: will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL with Bro. Alvin Neidigh officiating. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery, rural Oblong, IL.

Clyde L. Carter, 69, of Oblong, IL died of cancer at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:55 p.m.
Born in Porterville, IL on March 3, 1946, he was the son of Thomas Carter and Opal (Osborn) Carter. On December 29, 1964 he married Maxine Dorrough and she preceded him in death on July 10, 1997.
Clyde was a pipe fitter and welder for 28 years with Terre Haute Local #157 Pipefitters, retiring in 2000. Clyde was very proud to be a union man. Clyde attended Porterville and Trimble schools. He was a member of White Oak Christian Church, rural Oblong, IL; a member of the Oblong Antique Tractor & Engine Club; Crawford County Shrine Club and was part of the Shriner’s Motor Patrol for many years. Clyde was an avid antique tractor collector with his son Kevin. Clyde enjoyed going to tractor shows and gardening. He loved his grandkids very much.
Clyde is survived by his son Kevin W. Carter, Oblong, IL; two daughters Kimberly S. “Kim” Carter and Kendra Boone, both of Oblong, IL; three grandsons Cole Boone and Klyde Boone, both of Oblong, IL and Conrad Nading Boone, Findlay, OH; one granddaughter Trinity Boone, Findlay, OH; a brother Thomas Carter, Robinson, IL along with several nieces and nephews and his former son-in-law Chris Boone and wife Jamee of Findlay, OH.
Preceding Clyde in death were his parents; his wife; an infant son Kelly Lee Carter and two sisters Helen Stifle and Elsie Orndorff.
